Foreign investors keep looking at the Ukrainian market. Though, still, they would like to see effective reforms, anticorruption initiatives, and reduction of the oligarchs dominating on the local market.
These are the key conclusions of the foreign investor’s survey made by the European Business Association (EBA), Dragon Capital and Center of Economic Strategy (CES) in April 2019. Among the 75 respondents were direct investors (63%) and portfolio investors (76%).
The vast majority of interviewed investors (88%) are interested in Ukraine. Still, most of them (68%) are expecting the results of the parliamentary elections and formation of a new government.
Expectations from the new Government which positively influence the moods of investors are
- Anticorruption efforts
- Appointments of reformers at key positions
- Law influence of oligarchs
- Sustainable cooperation with IMF
Among the top 3 obstacles for foreign investors
- Growing corruption
- Dishonest judiciary
- Monopolization and role of oligarchs
